The Concept: The intentions of my project are only for the best. But really, what I want to do is to display the stark contrast with the availability of digital media to the world: everybody has a comment; whose is more important? More importantly, who exactly is being heard? I have taken a series of quotes pertaining to digital art from “legitimate” quote sources from the internet (pages dedicated to quotes said by scholars and those with fame) as well as comments from a video on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SoZzlgQzHM) which I would classify as an example of electronic art. Using a contrast of fonts and weights, I intend to display the idea that it’s much easier to be overwhelmed by the opinion of the masses rather than the opinion of the few. The onslaught of resources I was able to collect from the single video was enough to overwhelm me, which is what I hope to do to the viewer as well. The internet is giving everyone an opinion, therefore changing the reception and perception of art for everyone who has access to it.
